Long Story Short
The American spirit was like a wild horse. Americans saw the wide open spaces stretching from the Atlantic and the Pacific and saw opportunity. Thousands headed west for a better life. But the pioneers weren't exactly headed into an untamed wilderness. Dozens of native tribes populated the continent and weren't about to give up their land without a fight. The story of westward expansion is one of bravery and struggle.
