Long Story Short

Originating in England, the Industrial Revolution took America (and the world) by storm. In 1776, the United States was quiet little agricultural country. One hundred year later the country was getting a huge, coal-sooted makeover. Factories transformed the way people worked, immigrants poured into northern cities, railroads linked the continent. This was the age of the machine.
